Speculation surrounding Sandro Tonali has dominated the transfer agenda at Newcastle United.

Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is reportedly keen to join Juventus despite his AC Milan connections.

Finances in Serie A would make any deal difficult, with Premier League clubs also keeping tabs on the situation. Speculation has surrounded Tonali all season - much to the frustration of Newcastle fans.

In November, the Italian refused to commit his future to St James’ Park beyond the current campaign. There was also the January deadline-day saga that saw Tonali linked with a shock move to Arsenal.

Sandro Tonali agent goes rogue

Tonali’s agent, Beppe Riso, has publicly commented on his client’s future several times in recent weeks. Just days ago, he suggested it is “very likely” the midfielder will join Arsenal or Manchester City.

“Newcastle are already a Champions League club, but now it’s said that Tonali is being targeted by top clubs, those aiming to win the Premier League, such as Arsenal or Manchester City,” Riso told Calcio&Finanza. “That was the aim from the moment he went to England - to try and turn him into a star player.

“I think he’s the Italian player with one of the highest values in the world. “I don’t know (whether he will join Man City or Arsenal). But it’s very likely. Everyone is waiting for the World Cup; then a thousand scenarios will unfold, but it all kicks off after the World Cup.”

Fabrizio Romano drops Sandro Tonali update

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tonali - while loved by Juve - would be more likely to join another English club. He told his YouTube channel: "Juve have been trying to bring Sandro Tonali back to Italy for a couple of years now. The player himself is also quite keen on the idea. Sandro Tonali has been doing rather well at Newcastle since his return.

“He has maintained a very, very high standard. Regarding Sandro Tonali, lads, we’ve been telling you over the past few weeks that the direction of the Tonali deal ahead of the summer of 2026 is increasingly pointing towards England, where he’s clearly already at Newcastle, but where he could take a further step up.

“Well, the issue here, too, is financial, economic. For Juventus, Tonali has always been a fixation in recent years. He was one for Cristiano Giuntoli (former sporting director) and he was one for (Damien) Comolli (general manager) himself last summer."
