Leeds United
Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph says he wants to extend his stay at RCD Mallorca beyond this season.
In August 2025, Leeds United allowed the striker to join the La Liga side on a season-long loan deal.
Last month, Mallorca parted ways with manager Jagoba Arrasate, after managing six wins from 25 league matches, and appointed Martín Demichelis as his successor.
Arrasate utilised the Leeds United owned player in his preferred role as a No.9 and also on the right wing.
Demichelis has been in charge of two matches, managing a win and a draw, and used the 22-year-old as a striker. Overall, Mateo Joseph has played 1,606 minutes from 28 matches, scoring two goals and contributing two assists this season.
Some of Joseph’s league statistics from this season are below.

Leeds United hold control
As things stand, he will return to Elland Road at the end of the season as Mallorca haven’t secured a purchase clause.
Earlier in the season, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side want to extend his loan stay for another year.
Joseph has now expressed his desire to continue with Demichelis’ side. He reveals this during an interview with Fibwi Radio’s La Zona 10 and Última Hora have relayed his comments.
Mallorca are now 16th in the table, two points above 18th placed Elche, and the Spaniard admits it “hasn’t been the best year for the club”. Despite this, he wants to extend his stay. Daniel Farke’s side have a big say when deciding his future in the summer.
“I’d like to continue being happy here. When you’re happy somewhere, why change? It doesn’t depend much on me because I have a contract with another club. We’ll see what the future holds for me,” he said.
“I’m grateful to the coaches I’ve had, also to my teammates, who from day one has made me feel like one of them, and to the sporting director, who has always shown confidence in me.”
On his new manager at Mallorca, Joseph explained: “[He has] ambition, personality, and that desire to do well. He’s very demanding, and that aligns well with my personality.”
Why Farke’s side should sell in summer
Joseph has a contract with the Premier League side lasting until 2028 and Transfermarkt value him at €3.5m. Another loan move means he will have a year left on his contract in 2027.
Last summer, the Whites man effectively went on strike to force a transfer. Real Betis wanted to sign him either via a permanent transfer or loan with a purchase option. However, Leeds United were looking for a dry loan move and agreed the same formula with Mallorca.
Joseph’s contract, going on strike last summer and his latest admission are indications he doesn’t want to play for Leeds United. On top of that, he hasn’t had the season of development he’ll have expected. Therefore, it’s best for Farke’s side to part ways with him permanently in the summer.
