Michael Carrick has claimed that Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro are among the Manchester United players benefiting from the impact of Jonny Evans at Old Trafford.
Jonny Evans, who retired from football at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, returned to the Premier League club as a key coaching appointment under Michael Carrick.
Carrick linked up with former Manchester United teammate Evans for his coaching staff after he became the interim Red Devils head coach in January.
Evans has been praised for his work on the Red Devils’ set-pieces, with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro showing as much against Aston Villa last weekend.

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro’s link-up: Michael Carrick on the impact of Jonny Evans on Man Utd’s corners
Manchester United broke the deadlock against Aston Villa early in the second half after Bruno Fernandes whipped in a dangerous cross from a super corner-kick.
Casemiro escaped his marker before the 34-year-old Brazilian leapt in the air and turned a glancing header past Emiliano Martinez at Old Trafford last Sunday.

The Red Devils midfielder’s stunning effort hit the inside of Emiliano Martinez’s post before crossing the line and putting United into the lead over Villa on the day.
Speaking ahead of the Bournemouth match, Michael Carrick insisted that Jonny Evans’ role in the United coaching staff has been shining through in matches.
“First of all, it’s probably more important than it’s ever been,” he told MUTV, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“It’s always been important and I feel that it has a big impact in games; it feels like a lot more of them are going in.
“It’s good that we’ve had success with it. It’s a little bit on the coaching staff, certainly Jonny, with his ideas and how it works with the players.
“To work with them is important, what suits them and what they like.”

Michael Carrick’s role on the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro under Man Utd first-team coach Jonny Evans
Carrick insisted that United captain Fernandes is the key to unlocking the set-piece deliveries that Evans has been working on with the Red Devils players at the club.
However, the 44-year-old United legend added that the likes of Casemiro and Harry Maguire are equally important for their attacking aerial threat for corner kicks.
“We’ve got certain players who are proven really, in terms of Bruno’s delivery, Case and Harry [Maguire], in the way they attack the ball, as well as others,” he added.
“I think it’s important it’s a kind of mixed decision, if you like, and what works for everyone because they’ve got to do it.
“Jonny works with that quite closely and we’ve had good success, so hopefully, that continues.”
United will now travel to the Vitality Stadium on Friday evening for their Premier League encounter with Bournemouth, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.
