Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been named in the latest England squad by head coach Thomas Tuchel ahead of the Three Lions’ upcoming fixtures at Wembley.
The 29-year-old striker has made 29 appearances for the Whites so far this season, scoring 10 goals and registering one assist. His form has been a key factor in Leeds’ attacking output, with the forward also picking up the Premier League’s Player of the Month award in December.
Notably, no other English player has scored more Premier League goals than the Leeds striker this term, underlining his consistency in front of goal.
The call-up marks a return to the national team for Calvert-Lewin, who has 11 senior caps to his name, scoring four times. His previous international goals came against Wales, the Republic of Ireland and a brace versus San Marino.
His last appearance for England came in a memorable 4-0 victory over Ukraine in the quarter-finals of the European Championships in 2021.
England will now prepare for two fixtures later this month, both to be played at Wembley Stadium. The Three Lions will first take on Uruguay, managed by former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa, on Friday 27th March (19:45 GMT), before facing Japan on Tuesday 31st March (19:45 GMT).
The upcoming fixtures are part of Tuchel's preparations for this summer’s World Cup, which gets underway in June across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Drawn in Group L, the Three Lions are set to face Croatia, Ghana and Panama as they look to progress to the knockout stages of the competition.
