Mainoo and Maguire earn England recalls as Tuchel picks surprise names

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire

Manchester United pair Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo have been rewarded with returns to the England squad, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin earns a surprise call-up.

Three Lions head coach Thomas Tuchel has named his final camp ahead of the summer World Cup, with England to face Uruguay and Japan in friendlies, and used the opportunity to have a look at several fresh faces.

Including Everton striker Calvert-Lewin, there has also been a recall for centre-back Fikayo Tomori and Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke, and a first call-up for James Garner.

Tuchel has expanded his selection to 35 players, allowing the likes of Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele to stake a claim ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
