Sancho open to Dortmund return as German side explore deal

Jadon Sancho is open to a third spell at Borussia Dortmund as the German side explore a deal to re-sign the winger.

Sancho will become a free agent in the summer when his contract at Manchester United expires. The Red Devils have no plans to trigger the optional one-year extension following a disappointing spell at Old Trafford.

Sancho has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons out on loan. He returned to Dortmund for a second stint in 2023-24, before a season-long spell at Chelsea last season.

This season, Sancho is on loan at Aston Villa, where heโ€™s struggled to make the desired impact.

Dortmund are now exploring a deal to re-sign the former favourite, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Any deal would require Sancho to take a significant pay cut, though that is not currently a blocker to the transfer.

Sancho produced the best football of his career during his first spell at Dortmund between 2017 and 2021.

Heโ€™s produced 120 goals and assists in 153 games for Dortmund over two stints at the Westfalenstadion and was twice named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
