England squad: Thomas Tuchel has named five Newcastle United players in his latest England squad.
Hall won two caps back in November 2024 under Lee Carsley, but had not been named in any of Tuchel’s squads during his time as permanent manager. Hall suffered an injury just over twelve months ago which forced him out of the Carabao Cup final and also potentially out of Tuchel’s first squad in March last year.
Hall had been handed call-ups to the Under-21 squad towards the end of 2025, but his scintillating recent form for Newcastle United in recent weeks means that he could no longer be ignored for the senior squad.
Hall will also be joined by four of his Newcastle United teammates in Tuchel’s squad with Aaron Ramsdale, Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn also called-up by the German. Both Burn and Gordon have become regulars during Tuchel’s time as England manager and along with relatively untested Ramsdale, Livramento and Hall will be fighting to be included in Tuchel’s final World Cup squad.
Whilst other countries from around Europe and across the world face play-off matches to qualify for this summer’s World Cup, the Three Lions have already secured their place at the expanded 8-team competition. Over the next couple of weeks, England will take on Uruguay and Japan in friendly matches as they prepare for their trip to the USA, Mexico and Canada.
England’s clash against Uruguay will take place on Friday 27 March (7:45pm kick-off) at Wembley Stadium. Four days later, on Tuesday 31 March, England take on Japan, again at Wembley Stadium (7:45pm kick-off).

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has also been handed a surprise recall by Tuchel for those upcoming games against Japan and Uruguay. Teammate Kobbie Mainoo has also been given the chance to impress Tuchel.

Newcastle United’s other international representatives
Elsewhere, the German national team will have two Newcastle United representatives. Much like the Three Lions, Germany have also already secured their place at next summer’s World Cup and will have two friendly games, against Switzerland and Ghana, to play this month. Nick Woltemade and Malick Thiaw have both been called-up by Julian Nagelsmann for those games.
William Osula will get a chance to make his senior bow at international level this month after being called up by Denmark manager Brian Remer. Denmark face North Macedonia in Copenhagen in their World Cup play-off game with the winner of that tie facing either Czechia or the Republic of Ireland for a place in the World Cup.
Anthony Elanga’s Sweden also face World Cup play-off matches against first Ukraine and then the winner of Albania or Poland if they emerge victorious from their clash with Ukraine in Valencia.
Yoane Wissa will also represent DR Congo this month after missing out of their squad for the African Cup of Nations. Wissa and DR Congo play Bermuda and if they win that game, the winner of Jamaica v New Caledonia for a spot at the World Cup.
