Leeds United star recalled to England squad alongside Manchester United and Newcastle United men

Leeds United marksman Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been rewarded for his career resurgence with a recall to the England squad.

The 29-year-old won the most recent of his 11 caps in 2021, appearing as a substitute in the Euro 2020 quarter-final win over Ukraine.

Injury problems at Everton slowed his progress and the Sheffield-born forward had to watch others leapfrog him in the international pecking order.

However, since his free transfer move to Leeds last summer, Calvert-Lewin has rediscovered the form that initially put him in the Three Lions mix.

He has now been rewarded with a return to the England squad, landing a spot in an enlarged squad named by Thomas Tuchel.

A total of 35 players will report for international duty next week, with England set to face Uruguay and Japan in friendly matches at Wembley.

Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall have also been recalled, receiving opportunities to stake their claim for a seat on the plane to this summer’s World Cup.
