Newcastle United sensation Lewis Hall will be looking to add to his two England caps against Uruguay and Japan.

Thomas Tuchel has recalled Lewis Hall to his England squad ahead of games against Uruguay and Japan.

It was the former Chelsea boss who handed Hall his senior debut for an FA Cup clash with Chesterfield in 2022. The left-back would go on to play just 12 times for the Blues before joining Newcastle United three years ago.

Having taken time to settle in, Hall - a boyhood Toon fan - began to excel towards the end of his debut campaign. Still only 21, he is now regarded as one of Newcastle’s standout performers and arguably their best player this season.

An impressive season on Tyneside has resulted in Hall being recalled to the England setup. He earned both of his two caps during Lee Carsley’s reign as interim manager in 2024.

England have announced a 26-man squad, with room also made for Newcastle stars Aaron Ramsdale, Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn. There were questions about whether the latter would make the cut once news broke about Harry Maguire’s inclusion.

However, the Blyth native - who earned a fairytale call-up following last year’s Carabao Cup final - is looking to add to his five Three Lions caps. Burn recently told Sky Sports that he dreams about playing at the World Cup this summer.

Dan Burn on England

Burn has previously joked about being open to playing as a goalkeeper to ensure his place in the squad. He said: "I will play goalkeeper if the manager asked I just want to be on the pitch. I have waited so long to be an England player, I just want to make the most of it.

“I want to get as many caps as I can. The most important thing is the team are doing well so whatever I am asked to do I will.”

After making the surprise decision to give Burn a call-up at 32 last year, Tuchel told reporters: "He (Burn) has had a very impressive career and he’s a very solid player. He’s a very solid defender and a leader in the group. I have spoken to Dan and it was a very impressive phone call with very impressive messages that made me very comfortable in this call-up that we have picked a top team player that will help us build the right team.”
