Arne Slot shares when he 'hopes' Mohamed Salah will return from injury after ruling him out vs Brighton

Arne Slot has provided an update on the condition of Mohamed Salah ahead of Liverpool facing Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Reds will be looking to pick up their second win in the space of a week after they thumped Galatasaray 4-0 on Wednesday evening.

Salah was taken off in that clash after scoring a brilliant goal, and Slot has now provided an update on the Egyptian ahead of this Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton, confirming he will not feature but is hopeful he will be back after the international break.

Mohamed Salah out of Brighton vs Liverpool fixture

Salah’s form has been questioned in 2025/26, but he is still breaking records at Liverpool, including becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the Champions League.

Speaking live at his pre-Brighton press conference on Friday morning, Slot was asked about the 33-year-old’s condition after the midweek action.

He said: “So not available for tomorrow. The good thing for us, Liverpool, is we go to an international break, the bad thing for Egypt is he can’t go there.

“We are hoping with what Mo has shown in the past that he can recover faster than other players can in similar situations because he takes such good care of his body.

“History has shown he can be back earlier than some others. But it’s only two weeks till we go again, so let’s hope in that period of time he can be back.”
