James Garner has been named in the England squad for the first time in his career, joining Everton teammate Jordan Pickford in the camp.
Thomas Tuchel has been a regular visitor to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this season, and the Everton No.37 – who can boast two goals and five assists in 30 Premier League appearances – has clearly stood out to the German.
Not only that, but James Garner has also covered more distance than any other player at Everton this term with 328.03km to his name – only three players across the entire Premier League have run further.
|Player|Distance (km)|Total mins|
|---|---|
|Elliot Anderson|331.99|2,685|
|Martin Zubimendi|329.90|2,604|
|Morgan Rogers|329.58|2,680|
|James Garner|328.03|2,694|
|Sander Berge|320.06|2,506|
James Garner called up to England squad but Thomas Tuchel still makes bizarre move
News of Garner being in the squad is fantastic for the Toffees, but the absence of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is sure to irk some fans.
Dewsbury-Hall deserves to be in the England squad with Garner, do you agree? 🤔
FIVE goalkeepers have been included for some reason! 😡

The Everton No.22 has been superb this term, closing down opponents more than anybody else in the Premier League so far this season while showing solid end product too with six goals and five assists in 23 appearances.
Not only has Dewsbury-Hall been overlooked, but Tuchel strangely chose to name five goalkeepers in his squad, so there could have easily been space for the Everton maestro.
