Newcastle United are the most represented Premier League team in the squad for the friendly games against Uruguay and Japan.
The two games take place at Wembley and will be the last chance to impress on home soil before the tournament in the United States where England face Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
There was no place for Harvey Barnes despite recent performances. Aaron Ramsdale is in the squad - as reported first on Chronicle Live on March 8, when we brought you news of Thomas Tuchel being in the stands at St James' Park for the FA Cup tie against Man City.
Who is in?
Newcastle have Lewis Hall, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon in the last England squad before the World Cup finals in the States.
And there is a slight surprise as Aaron Ramsdale returns to the squad for the first time in two years.Chronicle Live reported on March 8 that Ramsdale was being monitored again.
Who is out?
There's no place for Harvey Barnes, despite good recent form and Nick Pope misses out.
Pope dropped a clanger against Everton and is in poor form at exactly the wrong time.
Is it the right decision?
Barnes could certainly have offered something fresh or something different. But having kept Scotland waiting on a decision to play for Steve Clarke, he could now end up watching the World Cup from home.
England have plenty of other attacking options so is perhaps the right call. Pope missing out also tallies with his poor form.
How will it impact their club form and so on?
For Burn and Gordon, who go into the international break on a bit of a low, their call-ups come at a good time as it will give them a lift. They are not in what you call sparkling form especially Burn.
Hall and Livramento have came back to fitness at the perfect time and their call-ups fit in nicely with their fitness programme.
Ramsdale also gets a timely boost after conceding seven goals in Barcelona this week.
