Man Utd have now set an internal target that involves Bruno Fernandes winning the Premier League

Manchester United are planning for Premier League success in the coming two years with Bruno Fernandes being a key component of the team.

When Bruno Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020, he instantly became the talisman.

That has remained the case under multiple managers and head coaches, but at the age of 31, Fernandes has noise in the background over his future following failed attempts from Saudi Pro League clubs last summer.

A player of Fernandes’ ilk should be competing for the biggest honours, be it in Spain or Germany, but he has been unable to do that at United thus far.

Man Utd plan to win Premier League with Bruno Fernandes by 2028

While United are currently third in the Premier League and enjoying improved form under Michael Carrick, it should be noted that things looked very different a few months ago under Ruben Amorim.

Fernandes played a more disciplined role under Amorim, but he is back to his best since Carrick deployed him into a preferred No. 10 role in the team. It benefits United’s attacking players mostly, allowing the Portugal international to spend most of his time in the final third, causing havoc for the opposition.

Although Fernandes is 31, with 16 Premier League assists to his name this term, he is showing no signs of slowing down. This is an elite player at the top of his game.

Any talk of Fernandes leaving in the summer has been rubbished following a report from the Daily Mail, which outlines United’s internal plan to win the Premier League by 2028, with the experienced playmaker being a key part of the team.

This is good news for United fans hoping to see Fernandes stay beyond this season. There is no denying that he’d be a massive loss for whoever is head coach in the summer.

When does Bruno Fernandes’ contract expire?

Fernandes is under contract at United until at least 2027.

United’s biggest worry will be the release clause in his deal for a fee of around £57 million.

It would be a huge loss for United if Fernandes were to leave this summer, especially if we’re competing in the Champions League.

Fernandes has always been a loyal servant, and as club captain, he should stick around to try to win the Premier League.
