Liverpool Predicted XI vs. Brighton: Frimpong gamble or right-side reshuffle?

Arne Slot finds himself with another selection dilemma due to injuries and the need to manage his squad as the match at Brighton comes 62 hours after Galatasaray’s visit.

Liverpool have a key absence and players that need managing on their right flank for the trip to Brighton, which Slot may be happy is the final game before the international break.

Mo Salah has been ruled out of the Premier League fixture, while Joe Gomez is not fit to start, and Slot hinted that Jeremie Frimpong is in need of managing after two successive starts.

It could leave midfielders to fill in the holes once more against a side that has found some form of late, winning three of their last four.

Here is a look at how the Reds could line up for their early kickoff on the south coast.

There are several ways Slot could approach the fixture, and one could be to keep his side as settled as possible, despite the quick turnaround.

Plenty hinges on Liverpool taking the risk to start Frimpong for the third time in a week after Slot conceded he has been injured “when games came fast.”

There are several players who will look to force their way in, including Curtis Jones, Andy Robertson and Rio Ngumoha, but it could only be Cody Gakpo that comes into the XI.

This would see him start on the left, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz offering further support behind Hugo Ekitike:

Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Gakpo, Ekitike

If the 62-hour turnaround necessitates more than one change, this could hand an opportunity to Jones, albeit at right-back if Slot deems his No. 8 is better used further up the pitch.

Robertson could offer fresh legs at left-back behind a diamond formation that negates the need for an out-and-out right winger.

This would see Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister and Wirtz all settle behind a front two of Gakpo and Ekitike.

Ngumoha can count himself unlucky to be involved, but his pace and directness could be needed off the bench in the second half:

Alisson; Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Wirtz; Gakpo, Ekitike

Liverpool need to start strong at Brighton, having only managed three away Premier League goals this season, and they will be aware of the prospect of tiring late on once again.

A win would consolidate at least fifth place with seven games remaining this season, a position that is all but confirmed to guarantee Champions League football next season.

Get the job done, Reds.
