Unai Emery has confirmed that Youri Tielemans is in contention to return to the Aston Villa squad to face West Ham on Sunday.
The midfielder has missed Villa’s last 11 matches across all competitions, including the last seven league games, due to an ankle injury.
Despite being absent for the past two months, Tielemans has still recorded the joint-most assists (four) among Villa players in the league this season.
The 28-year-old has also created the second-most chances (26) and the second-most big chances (four) among Villa players.
"Today is the first time he has trained with us," Emery confirmed. "He is feeling good. I don’t know if he will be in the squad for Sunday. If he is, then we will progressively get him with us."
His return will be a huge boost for Villa, who have had John McGinn back from injury in the last three matches.
The skipper came off the bench for the Europa League round of 16 first leg against Lille last week, before starting against Manchester United.
McGinn then broke the deadlock in the second leg against Lille on Thursday night, helping the club secure its place in the Europa League quarter-finals.
