Newcastle venue orders 7.5 tonnes of beer ahead of major football clash

NX has stocked up to meet expected high demand at its indoor fanzone in Newcastle for the Tyne-Wear derby on Sunday, March 22, where Newcastle United will face Sunderland at St James’ Park.

The city centre venue will screen the match live and host an all-day event with entertainment, music and fan activities.

Luke Rushfirth, venue manager at NX, said: "The response to this has been huge.

"We’ve seen phenomenal demand again, which is why we’ve gone big - from the entertainment line-up right through to ordering a record 7.5 tonnes of beer to keep fans going throughout the day.

"Derby days in Newcastle are always special, and we’re ready to deliver another unforgettable atmosphere for supporters in the city."

Fans can expect a schedule featuring football anthems from DJ Danger Danny Routledge, a live set from the UK's number one Britpop tribute act, and a performance from internationally renowned saxophonist Davey Sax.

The event will be hosted by Newcastle United YouTuber Matty Eltringham, whose popularBlack and White Banterchannel has built a strong following among fans.

Doors open at 10am ahead of the 12 noon kick-off.
