Alisson suffers new injury: Out vs. Brighton – Latest Liverpool FC News

Alisson will miss Liverpool’s trip to Brighton due to injury, with the goalkeeper also being pulled from the Brazil squad.

Alisson won’t play against Brighton

Alisson has joined Mo Salah on Liverpool’s injury list and won’t be able to play against Brighton in the Premier League.

The Liverpool Echo‘s Paul Gorst added that Liverpool are “not prepared to the take the risk with their No. 1 goalkeeper.”

This suggests he has picked up another problem since the Reds’ win over Galatasaray.

The Brazilian has had to pull out of his country’s squad for their upcoming internationals, having been initially announced as part of the setup to face France and Croatia in friendlies.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said in a statement that Corinthians’ Hugo Souza has been called up to replace Liverpool’s No. 1 “who is sidelined due to injury.”

In Alisson‘s place for Liverpool will be Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgian, who is proving himself a capable deputy, will make his 13th appearance of the season.

Alisson has already missed nine matches through injury this season for Liverpool, with a recurring hamstring injury noticeably hampering his kicking on occasion.

The shotstopper recently signed a one-year extension on his contract that will keep up at Anfield until the summer of 2027.

Bill Shankly‘s trusted right-back, Chris Lawler, made his debut on March 20, 1963, starting against West Brom in a 2-2 draw at Anfield as a 19-year-old.

He would go on to play 549 times for Liverpool, scoring 61 times as a full-back, making him the Reds’ highest-goalscoring defender to this day!

While he didn’t score on his debut, a press report noted: “Lawler is a magnificent director of headers; he scarcely put a ball wrong. His kicked passes were good too.”
