Igor Tudor reveals if Dominic Solanke will be available for Nottingham Forest fixture as he…

Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke remains doubtful to feature against Nottingham Forest.

Sunday afternoon brings Nottingham Forest to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a crunch game against Igor Tudor’s side in the relegation battle.

The North Londoners have started showing signs of revival under the interim boss, drawing 1-1 with Liverpool and beating Atletico Madrid 3-2 in the return leg of the Champions League last-16 tie, although they were eliminated due to an aggregate 5-7 scoreline. The two results have given the players renewed hope and energy heading into the cliched relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest.

Spurs sit just a point above both Nottingham Forest and West Ham, who face a difficult away trip to Aston Villa themselves. This shows how important Tottenham’s game is on Sunday. However, before the fixture, the fans were handed a scare by a Sky Sports journalist.

Reliable journalist claims Dominic Solanke did not train with the squad on Friday

Dominic Solanke did not feature for Tottenham against Atletico Madrid in midweek. In fact, he wasn’t even part of the squad, with Tudor confirming that the centre-forward missed out due to a minor hip issue.

The Spurs gaffer remained hopeful of having Dominic Solanke back in the mix for the Nottingham Forest game. However, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge revealed on X on Friday afternoon that the 28-year-old was not involved in Tottenham’s open training session.

This update from Michael Bridge left Tottenham fans sweating over the fitness of the England international, who has already missed over four months of action following an ankle surgery earlier this season. The persistent ankle issues have disrupted Solanke’s rhythm and progress in a Tottenham shirt. The hip issue is the latest to affect the player.

Igor Tudor gives reassuring fitness update on Solanke

However, during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Tudor gave a reassuring update on Solanke. He confirmed that the striker will perhaps train with the squad on Saturday and will be available for selection against Forest.

“Dom didn’t train but probably tomorrow he will train with the team, and I think he will be available. He had a hip problem but I think he will be ok,” Tudor said (h/t Football London).

Tudor’s words should have fans breathing a huge sigh of relief. They were certainly fearing for the worst following the Sky Sports journalist’s update, considering the constant setbacks Solanke has endured in his White Hart Lane career. All we can hope is that Solanke trains with the squad on Saturday and is passed fit to feature in the club’s season-defining fixture.

Also, England boss Thomas Tuchel naming him in the squad for the upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan is another positive signal that Solanke’s hip issue is a minor one.
