Man United are reportedly in fresh talks to sign a Premier League midfielder ahead of the summer.

Man United are heading into the international break in a superb position to qualify for the Champions League next year. Michael Carrick has done a fantastic job, as United sit third in the Premier League table heading into April.

The Red Devils will have a lot of big decisions to make in the summer ahead of hopefully a Champions League campaign, as they will need to decide on who to replace Casemiro with.

Man United enter fresh Baleba talks

Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba was on Man United’s radar last summer, as they reportedly enquired about potentially signing the 22-year-old. However, Brighton set his price at £100m and insisted that he was not for sale, so Man United cooled its interest.

However, Baleba remains on their radar as they look to replace Casemiro, and according to TeamTalk, United have now entered into fresh talks to sign the Cameroon international. It is also understood that Brighton have dropped their asking price to £70m, making any deal for the 22-year-old more possible heading into the summer transfer window.

Man United aren’t the only team that are keen on Baleba, as French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the midfielder, which could provide issues for Man United. However, it was reported in the Autumn that Baleba wanted a move to Man United, so the Red Devils remain the favourites to sign the Brighton star.

So far this season, Baleba has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Brighton, which shows he’s been a key player, as he missed several weeks this season whilst on international duty at AFCON.

Which other midfielders could Man United sign?

In terms of other likely midfield options for Man United, the Red Devils are reportedly looking at two Newcastle midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window, as they look to capitalise on a poor season at St James’ Park.

Reports have linked United to Sandro Tonali for several months, as the Italy international is reportedly looking to move away to find Champions League football, something that Man United should be able to offer him in the summer.

Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, as reports have said that United are willing to pay around £70m to sign him. However, the Brazil international remains very happy at St James’ Park, and seeing as he’s the club captain, it could be a difficult deal to complete, but the lure of Manchester United and the Champions League could be too much for Guimaraes to turn down.
