Liverpool dealt double pre-Brighton injury blow

**Liverpool have suffered a double injury below before their trip to Brighton.**

Arne Slot had already confirmed that Mohamed Salah was already set to miss Saturday’s encounter after being withdrawn against Galatasaray in midweek.

Salah will miss his country’s upcoming friendly with Spain and now faces a race against time to be fit for the Reds’ FA Cup quarter-final at Manchester City.

“The good thing for Liverpool and for us is that we go to an international break. The bad thing for Egypt is that he can’t go there,” said Slot.

“We are hoping also with what Mo has shown in the past that he can recover faster than other players might in similar situations because he takes such good care of his body.

“History has shown that he can be earlier back than some others. But it’s only two weeks when we go again so let’s hope in that period of time he can be back.”

But the Premier League champions have been dealt a fresh blow after Alisson was absent from their travelling party that headed to the South Coast on Friday evening.

The Liverpool goalkeeper missed the first leg against Galatasaray after pulling up in pre-match training but returned for last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

Although Anfield chiefs have not disclosed the extent of Alisson’s problem, it has already forced his withdrawal from Brazil’s upcoming friendlies in the United States.

Carlo Ancelotti swiftly called up Hugo Souza to take the 33-year-old’s place for the Selecao’s games against France and Croatia at the end of this month.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to replace Alisson at the Amex Stadium, having featured 12 times in all competitions this season since his arrival from Valencia.
