Alan Shearer has been predicting the fixtures for this weekend’s Premier League action.

The battle for Premier League safety continues this weekend, and it’s another big weekend for the London sides involved in the basement battle. West Ham and Tottenham remain in the thick of the fight for safety, with the Iron still in the final drop spot.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are just goal difference from safety, but they have another tricky test ahead of them this weekend, facing Aston Villa away from home, and a Villa side desperate to recover form, no less, as they battle for Champions League qualification.

Fortunately for the Iron, though. even if they do lose, the damage will be limited due to the fact the two sides directly above them, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, face off against each other in a relegation six-pointer.

Spurs have found some form in the last week, drawing with Liverpool in the league and winning against Atletico Madrid - although they lost the tie overall - and Igor Tudor will be hoping that well-timed bump will see his side through against Forest. A win in that game will have Spurs fans feeling much more confident about their chances, but a defeat could send them into crisis.

Elsewhere, Leeds United welcome Brentford to Elland Road, and already with a three-point gap over the relegation zone, the Whites know they can pull away with a couple of positive results.

It will be intriguing, as ever, to see how the relegation picture looks after this weekend, and here we take a look at how Alan Shearer sees it looking.

Shearer’s relegation predictions

In his predictions column with the Metro, Shearer tipped Leeds to beat Brentford, West Ham to draw with Villa and Tottenham to beat Forest.

Those results would mean Leeds move six points clear of the drop, while Spurs would move four points clear. West Ham would climb above the dotted line, and indeed above Forest, holding a one-point cushion over the East Midlands club. Hammers fans would certainly take that scenario.
