Hammer blow confirmed for Manchester United as Leeds United clash looms in April

Leeds United take on Manchester United after the international break, and last night’s action for Michael Carrick’s men has had a significant impact on that fixture.

Up next for Leeds is a home meeting with Brentford at Elland Road tonight. Daniel Farke has confidence in his side’s ability to steer clear of the relegation zone in the final eight games.

After a busy international break for Leeds’ star players, the FA Cup quarter-final takes place before a trip to Old Trafford awaits.

Harry Maguire banned for Leeds United’s trip to Manchester United next month

While Leeds have managed to work our way to within one game of Wembley, Man United were dumped out of the FA Cup in round three by Brighton at home.

Last night, they drew 2-2 with Bournemouth as Eli Junior Kroupi’s penalty sealed a draw for the Cherries in the 81st minute.

That penalty came by virtue of a terribly clumsy Harry Maguire foul, hauling Evanilson to the ground when 1v1. Not only was the penalty awarded, but Maguire was given his marching orders with a straight red card.

Now, with Man United not playing until our game on Monday 13th April, it means Maguire is banned. Maguire has been integral in Carrick’s turn of form for the Trafford club, starting every game since he took over back in January.

Leeds United have huge opportunity to pick up results to avoid Premier League relegation

All focus is on tonight’s game with Brentford at home. Winning this would put us well on course for survival on 35 points, with seven games to play.

However, we’d be even more assured if we can go to Old Trafford and get something under Farke. We’ve been largely terrible in that neck of the woods in the Premier League, so anything would be a positive.

Losing Maguire does leave them significantly more vulnerable at the back, though. Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt’s return could soften the blow.

That being said, we shouldn’t go there with any fear.
