Michael Carrick showed his tactical flexibility despite Manchester United dropping points away at Bournemouth.
A 2-2 draw with Bournemouth means Manchester United dropped valuable points in their pursuit of Champions League football.
While Michael Carrick has an opposite approach to Ruben Amorim on the touchline, he too got dragged into a goal frenzy against the Cherries.
However, considering Harry Maguire was sent off and two penalty calls went against the Red Devils, Michael Carrick may view it as a precious point with only seven matches remaining.
Carrick’s in-game management was tested against Bournemouth, and he made one key tweak early on.

Michael Carrick gave instruction to Senne Lammens and Luke Shaw
Carrick named an unchanged line-up to face Bournemouth, but throughout his first 10 games as interim head coach, he has made plenty of tweaks to his tactics and game plan.
As pointed out by journalist Samuel Luckhurst on X, Carrick told Luke Shaw from the touchline to move further up the pitch for goal kicks. He also shouted to Senne Lammens to instruct him to go long rather than pass it out from the back.

It was also picked up by Tyrone Marshall on X, who added that Carrick and Craig Mawson were instructing players to get up the pitch for goal kicks. He adds that Diogo Dalot nearly played United into trouble by losing possession in his own third.
Lammens’ kicking ability is elite and going long from goal kicks was also a strategy used by Ruben Amorim during his tenure at United.

Michael Carrick spotted Man Utd danger and acted
One of the biggest criticisms of Amorim during his time in charge was that he was too stubborn in his tactics approach at times.
Amorim’s refusal to change when things weren’t working ultimately led to his sacking. In contrast, Carrick has proven he is willing to adapt during games.

Carrick clearly spotted that United were having trouble in possession in their own third early on against Bournemouth.
Instead of waiting for further mistakes at the back or even conceding a goal, Carrick made his tweaks early. United went into the half-time break goalless before taking the lead twice in the second half.
