Toni Kroos and his brother, Felix, are bizarrely set to attend a a pub in the west of Newcastle tonight.

Toni Kroos will attend the Peregrine pub in Chapel House ahead of Newcastle United’s clash with bitter rivals Sunderland.

NewcastleWorld can reveal that the German superstar - who won five World Cups and a Champions League during his career - are seeking “authentic Geordie banter” in the build-up to the game. Kroos made headlines last August when he admitted his love for the Magpies following their 3-2 defeat to Liverpool.

Blown away by Newcastle’s performance with 10 men, the former Real Madrid midfielder vowed to attend a game before the end of the season. He also joked about Dan Burn being his favourite player - promising to buy his replica shirt.

In partnership with Guinness and German TV, Kroos and his brother, Felix, are sampling Tyneside for the first time. While documenting their trip, the duo are set to visit the Peregrine pub in the west of Newcastle.

The event is open to all, with Kroos to greet customers between 6pm and 7pm as he builds up to the Tyne-Wear derby and his first taste as a Newcastle fan. Those wanting to attend have been asked to “get involved” to give the German a true Geordie experience.

What Toni Kroos said in August

“Fine, I'd do it (order a Newcastle membership),” he told his podcast. “Do I have to show up next week? I will order the jersey of, who's the big one at the back? The one at the front for everyone. Dan Burn. He's 33, I think and, if I'm not mistaken, an England international. I think Tuchel made him an international. Could you please order his shirt and post it next week?

“I was 1000 per cent aback by what they did yesterday. I know Newcastle obviously has a lot of tradition, but that they're also a club that's somehow in Saudi Arabian hands. I don't care about any of that. Yesterday was purely about the mentality. I have to say, sad is a big word, but I was disappointed for Newcastle that the goal (from Liverpool) was scored in the end.”
