Newcastle now eyeing move to sign 'unbelievable' Champions League striker alongside Delap -…

Newcastle United are eyeing a summer move to sign Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson to strengthen their attack, according to TEAMtalk.

The Magpies spent big money to revamp their attacking department last summer as they brought in Anthony Elanga, Nick Woltemade and Yoanne Wissa, while they also cashed in on Alexander Isak for a British-record transfer fee as he departed for Liverpool.

But Eddie Howe's side have struggled this campaign and currently sit ninth in the Premier League, while they have been eliminated from all the domestic cups and Champions League too. Now, they want to add more firepower to ensure they don't suffer the same issues next season, and a familiar face has emerged as a target.

Newcastle Want Nicolas Jackson

Jackson, who has been described as 'unbelievable', found himself sidelined at Chelsea last summer despite a strong campaign, and has spent this season on loan with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, playing understudy to Harry Kane.

A return to Stamford Bridge looks highly likely this summer, but it seems unlikely that he will be part of their squad for the next campaign with Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Emegha both set to be in the picture, while Liam Delap is also part of the squad.

The young Englishman could be on the move, however, with GIVEMESPORT sources understanding that Newcastle are keen on Delap, having held talks with him last summer before he left Ipswich. But alongside Delap, the club are keen on a deal for the Senegal international.

Sources indicate that Newcastle will not sign both players, but they do hold a keen interest in both players, and would take either if they could find a favourable agreement with Chelsea. Jackson is understood to be prioritising regular first-team football, which the Magpies can offer.

Jackson In, Woltemade Out?

With a new striker clearly high up on the agenda at St James' Park for this summer, that obviously sparks uncertainty around current options in the squad, such as Woltemade.

The Germany international enjoyed a good start to life in the north-east, but has struggled in the second half of the season and is understood to be frustrated at being played in midfield. GIVEMESPORT sources understand Newcastle would be open to selling him in the summer, and he would be open to a return to the Bundesliga.

It could work for all parties if Woltemade is to be moved on, and the money spent on bringing in Jackson, who could provide the attributes that Howe desires to lead the forward line.
