Brighton vs Liverpool kick-off delayed as Premier League release statement

Kick-off in has been delayed by 15 minutes due to a road traffic accident near the Amex Stadium.

The incident has occurred on the A27, with Brighton confirming the delay on their social media accounts.

The added: "Kick-off for today’s Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool has been delayed by 15 minutes to 12:45pm, due to heavy traffic in the local area delaying the arrival of supporters."

Both sets of players continued their warm-ups on the Amex Stadium pitch after the delay was announced, with TNT Sports presenter Lynsey Hipgrave updating viewers watching on television.

"We do have a lot of empty seats still at the moment," she said.

"There is going to be a delay to kick-off here while they try and get as many fans as possible into the stadium.

There has been an accident on the A27 heading toward the Amex today, so long tailbacks outside. They are going to hold the match back a little bit just to try and get as many of the supporters in as they can."

Liverpool have made two changes for the match, with Giorgi Mamardashvili and Cody Gakpo coming into the side to replace veteran pair Alisson Becker and .

Alisson's absence from the trip was revealed on Friday night when it emerged that he had also pulled out of the Brazil squad, while he posted on Instagram on Saturday morning to say that he was going to be "out for a while."

Salah's absence had been revealed by Reds boss Arne Slot at his press conference on Friday, with the Egyptian suffering with a muscle issue.
