An injury expert has given his verdict on how long Hugo Ekitike could be out for after being forced off “in tears” during Liverpool's Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday afternoon. The Frenchman, considered among the best strikers in the world right now, picked up an upper-leg injury in the opening exchanges at the AMEX Stadium.
It came after a challenge with former Red James Milner, with the 23-year-old initially struggling to get back to his feet. He briefly tried to run it off after receiving treatment, but went down again shortly after returning to the action and was replaced by Curtis Jones in the first half. Ekitike’s injury will be a particular concern for Arne Slot in a week that has already seen Alisson Becker ruled out of Brazil’s upcoming international fixtures, while Mohamed Salah was also forced off in the 4-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray in midweek.

"Hugo Ekitike was forced off early with an upper-leg issue. The injury appeared to come after James Milner made contact with the outside of Ekitike’s hip, which commonly leads to a painful contusion/cork or hip pointer injury. These are often quite sore initially, but they usually settle fairly quickly. Expected recovery time: Less than one week."
