Liverpool slumped to yet another Premier League defeat when they were beaten 2-1 at Brighton in their latest low-quality encounter. In a game littered with errors and poor play from both teams, Danny Welbeck scored in each half either side of Milos Kerkez capitalising on a mistake from Lewis Dunk to equalise.

The result means Arne Slot's side are in danger of slipping out of the top five and the Champions League berths with Chelsea at Everton later in the day.

The ECHO was in attendance at the AMEX Stadium and here we run the rule over the performance of the Liverpool players.

**Giorgi Mamardashvili 6**

Overhit pass to Konate gifted Brighton the throw-in from which they ultimately scored the opener, but assist of sorts for the equaliser and three good saves second half. Kicking a bit iffy.

**Jeremie Frimpong 5**

Landed awkwardly when challenging with Minteh, who was equal to his pace, and lost his way completely in the second half. Subbed.

**Ibrahima Konate 5**

Found Welbeck and Minteh awkward to handle on occasion before break and contributed to sense of unease defensively. Booked and subbed.

**Virgil van Dijk 5**

Won plenty of aerial balls at set-pieces but passing out of defence was more hopeful than accurate and caught out for Brighton second. Went wandering a bit.

**Milos Kerkez 6**

Good awareness and composure to nip in and level and defensively stuck to task but among many to tire after break. Subbed.

**Ryan Gravenberch 5**

Heavily involved for periods in opening quarter but became less of influence and not assertive enough in dealing with some loose balls or when clearing lines.

**Dominik Szoboszlai 6**

Fired one free-kick over and created chance for Mac Allister. Plenty of work-rate but became increasingly peripheral. Booked.

**Florian Wirtz 6**

Swiftly moved up front alongside Gakpo after Ekitike departure but not all of his passes found the mark although did create chance for Jones.

**Alexis Mac Allister 6**

Good header saved by Verbruggen first half and sent another wide from corner after break. Could have done more but by no means the worst.

**Cody Gakpo 5**

One of two up top, had one mishit shot blocked during first half in which his greater threat was running from deep. Lacked touch and composure when in some promising positions after break, but one shot saved late on.

**Hugo Ekitike**

Clobbered by Milner early on and had to admit defeat after trying to continue. Subbed.

**Curtis Jones (for Ekitike 8) 5**

Took a good while to settle and ended up at right-back for final half-hour. Shot saved by Verbruggen second half.

**Rio Ngumoha (for Frimpong 64) 6**

Struggled to gain a meaningful touch until some late runs got the away crowd going.

**Andy Robertson (for Kerkez 77) 6**

Unable to change the tide despite some good runs.

**Federico Chiesa (for Konate 77) 5**

One shot blocked.
