Rio Ferdinand shares what he’s‘hearing’about Man Utd’s manager search after Bournemouth draw

Michael Carrick’s Man Utd dropped two points against Bournemouth, and Rio Ferdinand has the latest on the impact it has had on the managerial search.

Going into the international break with two points dropped will hurt Michael Carrick and Man Utd, but the big picture is still fairly rosy.

Seven wins, two draws, and one defeat in the first ten games after taking over mid-season is a remarkable feat that has gathered deserved support for Carrick.

Amidst the noise, Rio Ferdinand has shared the latest he’s heard from voices with Man Utd about the managerial search.

Rio Ferdinand on Man Utd manager search

Carrick might just have been an interim appointment, but his performance and the developments elsewhere make it seem like the stars are aligning for his job to become permanent.

Having said that, Ineos have preached patience so far as they learn from Glazers’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s error of jumping the gun.

They can even take learnings from their own Erik ten Hag mistake when they got swept away in fan emotion and gave him a new contract.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has confirmed the same by sharing that United will continue to speak to other managers while Carrick performs miracles with the squad.

He said: “I have to say I think they’re going to interview other people from what I’m hearing.

“They will do that, and they should do that. But at the end of the day, Michael Carrick’s come in, it’s a difficult job that he’s done. He’s made it look very easy so far.

“I don’t think anything should be rushed. I wouldn’t give it to him now. Even though listen, I’d love to see him get it. But I just think it’s the right thing to do is to wait until the end of the season, see how it’s all unfolded.”

Ineos are handling Michael Carrick’s situation perfectly

Since arriving at Old Trafford, Ineos have tried to paint themselves as “best-in-class” operatives with expertise in football.

Therefore, it won’t look good if they end up appointing a person they looked towards in an emergency immediately.

Carrick’s position won’t be helped if he gets brushed with the nostalgia tag, so Ineos are handling the whole situation perfectly.

Waiting until the end of the season makes Ineos look like they’re following through on a proper plan and discussing all options.

It helps Carrick avoid the panic tag, which would hurt his reputation, especially given how fans seem to treat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when he wasn’t even a failure.

Even if Carrick wins every game between now and the end of the season and guides United to second place, any announcement should only be made when all 38 league games are played.
