Newcastle make contact to sign 'exceptional' Champions League star, he's open to move

Newcastle United are interested in signing Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The St James’ Park side are reportedly keeping close tabs on the Frenchman’s situation ahead of the upcoming transfer window and believe they could have an opportunity to pursue his arrival.

Newcastle are said to have already expressed their interest directly to Thuram’s camp, with the forward reportedly ‘open’ to a Premier League move after the season.

Thuram, who joined Inter from Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer of 2023, is under contract until 2028.

According to reports in Italy, Thuram has no shortage of potential suitors ahead of the summer, with Premier League and Saudi Pro League clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

The 28-year-old would reportedly prefer a move to England, where both Newcastle and Aston Villa have already positioned themselves for a potential swoop.

Inter, however, would only consider selling Thuram if a significant offer arrives, given that the Frenchman remains an integral part of manager Cristian Chivu’s squad this season.

Thuram himself remains focused on finishing the season strongly with Inter, who sit top of the Serie A standings with nine games left to play.

The ‘exceptional’ forward will reportedly evaluate his future after the World Cup and has earmarked a move to England as his preference if he ends up leaving Inter.

Thuram helped Inter lift the 2024 Serie A title, registering 26 goal contributions in 35 games, and played a key role in the 2025 Champions League final.

Looking to reinforce their striker options after the season, Newcastle have identified Chelsea star Liam Delap as a potential target.

As GIVEMESPORT revealed this week, the Magpies are considering a move for the ex-Ipswich Town star this summer amid his difficult first year with Chelsea.

Delap has scored just one Premier League goal in 21 appearances for the Blues and could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in the foreseeable future.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is believed to have met Delap in person last summer, before he joined Chelsea on a six-year contract.
