Mason Greenwood reportedly has the chance to rejoin Manchester United this summer, just two years after departing Old Trafford, with interest in the striker continuing to grow across Europe.
Nevertheless, a transfer elsewhere would still prove advantageous for United, who inserted a significant sell-on clause when he left Old Trafford for Marseille in 2024, securing them a substantial share of any future transfer fee.
With that in mind, Atletico Madrid have surfaced as a potential destination as they look for a possible replacement for Julian Alvarez, whose future at the Wanda Metropolitano remains uncertain.

The Argentine has been linked with a move to Barcelona and has refused to confirm whether he will stay at Atleti next season. "Maybe yes, maybe no - you never know," he said.
Speaking on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, journalist Gonzalo Alvarez suggested that Greenwood is 'admired' by the Atletico leadership and that the player would welcome a return to Madrid.
The 24-year-old previously lived in the Spanish capital during his loan spell with Getafe in the 2023/24 season. Alvarez told Cadena Ser: "He lived in Madrid two years ago. He's delighted. He loves Madrid.

"He made some good friends there. He likes the idea of returning.", reports the Express.
Alvarez, however, added: "Although he also has the option of going back home, which is Manchester United. We'll see what happens but sources in Marseille tell me that the possibility of Greenwood joining Atletico Madrid is real."
Meanwhile, Italian reports suggest Juventus have expressed interest, although meeting Marseille's reported £42million valuation could prove challenging.

Nevertheless, the strong relationship between the two clubs is thought to have opened the door for a potential creative arrangement involving player swaps.
Players such as Jonathan David and Edon Zhegrova have been mooted as potential elements to reduce the overall fee.
A swap arrangement with Juventus, however, would be less financially advantageous for United, who are keen to maximise any money they can recoup ahead of the summer transfer window.
