Women's preview: Burnley Women (H)

Derby County Women face Burnley Women in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division at the Don Amott Arena on Sunday 22nd March (2pm kick-off).

The Opponents

Burnley FC Women were formed in 1995 as Burnley FC Girls and Ladies before adopting their current name in 2018.

The Clarets have been a firm fixture in the Northern Premier Division in recent years, recording top-four finishes in each of the past five seasons.

In their first season as a full-time outfit, the Lancashire outfit remain unbeaten under the interim management of Lou Roberts before she departed the club a month ago and was replaced by former midfielder Ross Wallace, who took on a caretaker role until the end of the season.

With a league record of 16 wins and two draws this season, Burnley will hope to maintain the breathing space between them and Dan McNamara’s Wolves, who they beat 1-0 last weekend.

While having the best defensive record in the division with just five goals conceded, they also have the league’s top scorer in Charlie Chadwick, who has 18 goals this season.
