Leeds United fans had all eyes set on Elland Road on Saturday night in anticipation of a result against Brentford. The last time the two sides met, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s goal was enough to seal a draw on the road.
This time, one point was not going to do any good for the Whites, who were in desperate need of a win. Leeds had just picked up one point in their last three games ahead of their match on Saturday night. Brentford were also aiming for a result that would draw them closer to Europe, as they are just a few points off the top five in the league.

Graham Smyth blasts Leeds United after draw
With how the game started and went on, one would think that Leeds United were out of the relegation battle and had no pressure on them. The football was pedestrian and there looked like there was no urgency to put the ball in the back of the net. Outside a few half chances, the Whites did not really create anything to write home about.
Graham Smyth described the game perfectly in his post on Twitter/X as ‘horrible’: ”A horrible, horrible game. I called this must win before the game, because winnable games are coming and going now. But Leeds can’t really say they deserve it just because they put balls in the box. ”
With eight games to go, the club have not been able to dig themselves out of trouble, and will have a lot of work to do till the end of the season.

Whites were just not good enough
”Horrible” is the best way to describe how the game went on Saturday night; Leeds looked like they were out of ideas when Brentford set up to just get a result away from home. Keith Andrews’ side were well organized and barely allowed any space for the home side to play with the ball. This left the only attacking game plan for the Whites to crossing the ball into the box in hopes of generating a chance. Leeds were poor on Saturday and will need to do better till the end of the season.
