This is how they performed as individuals.
Bart Verbruggen 8/10

Made very good saves low down from Mac Allister and Jones, then parried from Gakpo and was generally good with hands and feet.
Mats Wieffer 7/10
Solid defending, a wise tactical foul which cost him a yellow card and an important intervention on Gakpo just after the first goal - but missed a great chance with a header.
Jan Paul van Hecke 9/10

A towering display in defence and constructive with the ball. One block to halt a counter had assistant coach Joonas Scheuermann punching the air.
Lewis Dunk 6/10
He has back-headed to the keeper plenty of times but this one was hard to watch as Kerkez read it. Also got a chested back pass wrong but there was plenty of good stuff too.
Ferdi Kadioglu 8/10
Keeps turning in the high-energy, diligent performances. Did enough defensively, tested the keeper after a good run and delivered a pinpoint cross for the opening goal.
James Milner 7/10

Set the tone early with strong challenges and alert defending and was still giving out the orders as he left the field.
Pascal Gross 7/10
One of the more under-stated performers and did an effective job on the ball and as part of the team pattern.
Diego Gomez 7.5/10
Was a great target at the far post for the first goal and does a lot of strong work while showing a better touch then some give him credit for. Tested the keeper with a superb free-kick but still has a habit of giving away needless fouls, sometimes in dangerous areas.
Jack Hinshelwood 7/10
The finishing touch eludes him, although one of his chances turned into an assist. Was not always secure in possession but put in a busy display in general.
Yankuba Minteh 8/10
Was allowed to continue on a yellow card and it paid off with an explosive second half, the high point of which was his cross for the winner. Fired at the keeper when clean through.
Danny Welbeck 9/10
Too clever for Konate on the opener, in the right place for the winner but also an effective contributor around the park. Brilliant work ahead of Minteh’s one-on-one.
SUBS - Carlos Baleba 7/10
Looked pleasingly confident and back to what he can do in an area where Milner has now set a high bar.
Kaoru Mitoma 7.5/10
Great impact off the bench. Seemed to glide rather than run through the defence to set up a huge Hinshelwood chance and was always a danger.
Yasin Ayari N/A
Lively in attacking areas and was denied a goal by Jones’s great block.
Georginio Rutter, Joel Veltman N/A
Helped see the win through.
