Manchester United are preparing for a lengthy spell away from competitive action following their stalemate at Bournemouth. Harry Maguire's England recall was overshadowed by a sending-off as United's pursuit of Champions League football took a minor blow.
Maguire, who had started Friday celebrating his international return, was shown a red card for a challenge on Evanilson, enabling Cherries substitute Junior Kroupi to net an 81st-minute spot-kick and secure a 2-2 draw. It marked only the third occasion in 10 Premier League matches under interim boss Michael Carrick that United had dropped points.
They are still in a favourable position regarding Champions League qualification, though victory would have narrowed the deficit to Manchester City to four points before the international break. Their next fixture isn't until they welcome relegation-battling Leeds on April 13. Here's a summary of the latest United developments...
United make complaint
United have submitted an official grievance over the refusal to award a second spot-kick at Bournemouth. The Red Devils have contacted PGMOL, with club officials incensed about a second-half incident involving Amad, who seemed to be hauled down in the box moments before Ryan Christie levelled for Bournemouth.
Referee Stuart Attwell opted against awarding the decision on the pitch, while VAR did not intervene to reverse it. Carrick described Attwell's judgement as "baffling" and "astonishing" during his post-match press conference.
Carrick said: "You can have all the conversations in the world about could it have been this, could it have been that? I just think that's for VAR. If they've already given one and agreed that that was a penalty, then surely the next one should be a straightforward one? After it, there's no point in whatever comes. Whether they apologise or not, it's done now."

Rashford 'issues' raised
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has discussed the issues that have limited Marcus Rashford's playing time of late. The United striker was ruled out for three weeks in February due to a minor knee problem.
He has since made his comeback but has featured for just 79 minutes across the last four matches, as Barca aim to prevent any further complications. However, ahead of Sunday's home fixture against Rayo Vallecano, Flick confirmed his loan star is now fully fit.
The German head coach said: "Marcus had some issues in the last few days and we took care of him. Now he's back to 100 per cent."

With Barcelona competing for the La Liga crown and still in contention in the Champions League following their demolition of Newcastle in their last-16 clash, Flick insists Rashford will be essential during the season's closing stages. He said: "We need all the players until the end, and we don't know what will happen after that.
"There's time [to make decisions]. There's the World Cup. I believe in my players. Cancelo, Rashford, Gerard... they give us quality. And the rest do too. We'll talk at the end and see what happens."
Barcelona still intend to sign Rashford on a permanent basis this summer, assuming the transfer fee and wages align with the club's Financial Fair Play constraints, according to Mundo Deportivo.
