Chris Wood has made his long-awaited return to action.
The Nottingham Forest striker started for the club’s B team as they beat Newcastle United Under-21s 3-0 on Friday night.
Wood has not played since October after suffering a knee injury, but he started for the Reds against Newcastle and played 45 minutes before being substituted at half-time.
He also opened the scoring after just 11 minutes, converting a Jimmy Sinclair cross.

They have also reached the last eight of the Europa League.
Wood is in line to play a part in the run-in.
Asked whether Wood could return for the Aston Villa match after the international break, head coach Vitor Pereira said: “I don’t know, I don’t know. I don’t have the information about it. But he is another leader, a fantastic player and character, and we need him for the last games.”
