Leeds United inched one step closer to securing their top-flight status after playing out a dull 0-0 draw with Brentford at Elland Road.

It is certainly not a game that will live long in the memory for United supporters; however, the result could prove to be a pivotal one come the end of the season.

Speaking after the game, Brentford boss Keith Andrews took a sly dig at Leeds, claiming they were able to “frustrate” their opponents during the lacklustre spectacle.

A former Premier League star also had his say on the game, where he called into question Leeds’ mentality during their recent games.

Phil Jagielka has his say on Leeds’ goalscoring woes

Leeds’ last goal in the Premier League feels like it was an eternity ago, with it being Anton Stach’s exceptional free-kick against Aston Villa.

At this point, Leeds’ barren run in front of goal has lasted four games in the league, with former Everton defender Jagielka sharing his concerns for the Whites whilst on punditry duties for Sky Sports.

“When you look at this, they’re obviously taking shots from strange places; they’ve had 56 and only 13 on target in their last four games. They’re not shots from eight, ten, 12 yards out; these are probably going to be long-range efforts,

“That tells you the mentality of the team, they’re sort of willing and hoping to score rather than a team that’s set up and designed to create a lot of chances, and they will score.”

The former England international was not all doom and gloom when it came to discussing Leeds, however, with Jagielka complimenting their defensive structure and league standing.

“But again, they were defensively so good today, Daniel Farke looks really happy, really proud of his team, and he seems upbeat, so Leeds are in a great position.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been poor recently, according to data

Despite recently receiving an England call-up, Calvert-Lewin has been an isolated figure when leading the line for Leeds in recent weeks.

The forward has had very little in terms of quality supply from open play in the last four games, and that has coincided with Leeds’ lack of goals in their last four games.

In Leeds’ last four Premier League outings, Calvert-Lewin has managed to have nine shots, with four of them coming in the game against Manchester City

From these nine efforts, the forward has accumulated an xG of 1.94

Whilst the Englishman does not get an abundance of chances due to how little Leeds create in most games, Farke will need his talisman to showcase the form he displayed in December, where Calvert-Lewin gobbled up every chance that came his way.

If Calvert-Lewin continues to be wasteful in front of goal with chances being a rarity for this Leeds team, then the Whites could be set to endure a nervy end to the season.
