Manchester United will be in the market for one, maybe two midfielders during the summer transfer window, but Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will not be one making the move to Old Trafford.
With Casemiro leaving the Red Devils at the end of his current contract in the summer, United are on the lookout for replacements, with the likes of Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Adam Wharton high on their list of transfer targets this summer.
All four of the above mentioned names will come at a cost, with all likely to be in the £100milion-plus range for United to complete a deal.
Manchester United Could Sign Two Midfielders This Summer
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall Everton
GIVEMESPORT understands that United may look to sign one big-money player and another midfielder on a cheaper deal, and someone who was named as a potential candidate was Everton's Dewsbury-Hall.
The former Leicester City man has enjoyed a fine season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium since arriving at the club from Chelsea in the summer, bagging six goals and five assists in 24 Premier League matches for the Toffees.
It has alerted a number of clubs, including United, who have been eyeing a summer move for the 27-year-old, who could command a fee in the region of £50million according to reports.
Aston Villa have also been linked with a move for the midfielder, but Everton have poured cold water on any deal, according to reports, by insisting the player is not for sale this summer.
Everton could qualify for European competition come the end of the season, with their 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday ensuring they remained eighth in the Premier League table and now just two points behind sixth-placed Chelsea and only three behind Merseyside rivals Liverpool in fifth.
Dewsbury-Hall Has High Ambitions With Everton
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall celebrates scoring against Man United
Dewsbury-Hall spoke out earlier this month about his season so far and the ambition of getting Everton into Europe at the end of the campaign.
He said: "I am confident, I am feeling the best I have ever felt physically and football-wise.
"Getting in to the England squad is a dream of mine. I know the competition is stacked, but I am having a really good season – it is probably the best season I have ever had in the Premier League. My main focus is getting in to Europe with this team. If we do that, it gives me a better chance internationally."
The midfielder, who has been described as "fantastic" by former boss Enzo Maresca and former Everton player Leon Osman, was snubbed by England head coach Thomas Tuchel in his England squad on Friday and faces a fight to win a spot on the plane for the 2026 World Cup.
