Leeds United played out their second consecutive goalless draw in the Premier League last night, this time against Brentford at Elland Road.

Whilst a point against a Brentford side who are currently in the hunt for a European spot is not a bad one by any means, the lack of attacking spark from Daniel Farke’s men certainly concerned some supporters.

Former Everton defender Phil Jagielka questioned Leeds’ mentality on punditry after the game, after United went for the fourth consecutive Premier League game in a row without scoring.

However, one particular Leeds attacker failed to impress during the dull clash under the lights at Elland Road, with his future surely to be evaluated in the summer.

Dan James had a disastrous cameo performance against Brentford

Whilst Lukas Nmecha also struggled to impress against Brentford, in fairness to the German striker, he was played out of position by Farke and shoehorned into the team out on the left wing.

James, however, does not have any excuses and is quickly running out of time to prove he is able to contribute for Leeds in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old was subbed on with 15 minutes to go as Leeds were attempting to break the deadlock in the game, but James failed to make any sort of meaningful impact in his cameo appearance.

Performances like these from James are unlikely to mean he will earn his place back in the starting XI before the end of the season, with the Wales international being limited to just four starts in the league up to this point.

Dan James could be sold in the summer

Given his limited impact on the campaign in general, whether that be through poor performances or injuries sidelining James, the 49ers will surely be considering any offers they receive for the winger this summer.

They will know that they cannot afford to have attacking players with no goals or assists to their name by late March if they wish to fully establish Leeds as a Premier League club moving forward.

James is undoubtedly a fan favourite in West Yorkshire; however, sentiment cannot play a part when assessing his future, and he has consistently proved at Leeds that he cannot cut it in the Premier League.
