Bruno Guimaraes once'taunted'Bruno Fernandes with four-word message, soon they could be Man Utd teammates

Bruno Guimaraes is reportedly a target for Manchester United this summer meaning he could soon be lining up next to Bruno Fernandes in red.

Last week it was reported that Manchester United have held ‘advanced’ talks with Bruno Guimaraes ahead of a summer midfielder overhaul at Old Trafford.

While Eddie Howe insists Guimaraes will stay at Newcastle in the summer, the rumours continue to swirl with Fabrizio Romano revealing that a meeting did take place between United chiefs and Bruno Guimaraes’ agents a few weeks ago.

Casemiro has personally recommended Guimaraes as his successor at Old Trafford when the Brazilian departs in the summer. If the Newcastle star does complete a move to Manchester, it could set up a frosty reunion with captain Bruno Fernandes.

What Bruno Guimaraes did to taunt Bruno Fernandes

The rivalry between Newcastle and United has heated up in recent years, sparked by the Carabao Cup final in 2023 where the Red Devils came out on top.

This season, Newcastle inflicted Michael Carrick’s first defeat, but Guimaraes was out injured for the match.

Last season, though, Newcastle beat United 4-1 at St James’ Park and Guimaraes scored the final goal of the game.

As per The Mirror, in his celebrations, Guimaraes could be heard repeatedly shouting “I am the Bruno” while thumping the Newcastle badge on his chest.

Newcastle fans could also be heard chanting ‘There’s only one Bruno’ to Fernandes, who was taken off late into the match by Ruben Amorim.

Man Utd can have the last laugh with Bruno Guimaraes deal

This season, there really has only been one Bruno in the limelight, and that is the United captain.

Fernandes is chasing the Premier League Player of the Season award and is on track to break the single-season assist record.

In the summer, Ineos’ top priority is finding a well-rounded midfielder to play just behind Fernandes, and Guimaraes is seemingly high on the shopping list.

If United can pull off a deal for Guimaraes, then travelling to Tyneside with both Bruno’s wearing red would surely silence St James’ Park.
