But instead they were met by applause, with the fans showing their appreciation for a display that was at least competitive.
It didn’t go unnoticed by Flemming, Burnley’s goalscorer on the day, who told the club’s YouTube channel: “I was really impressed and I really appreciated it, especially at the end of the game.
“We heard them throughout, but at the end it resulted in a massive disappointment which I still feel in myself at that moment as well.
“To be honest, the energy and emotional state that I went to towards the fans, I probably expected the same sort of sensation back, a probably negative approach.
“But they didn’t, they really showed they stick by us. To do that when we’ve just lost 3-1 when we’ve had a massive opportunity to get us back in the mix, then there’s literally nothing else we can ask for.”

“It was quite a difficult game, but not extremely difficult. I felt throughout, from the beginning until their third goal went in with a minute to go, we could win the game.
“When you score to make it 1-0, whether it’s me or someone else, you think: ‘yes, this is what we need’ and we can continue this performance.
“But we conceded and we didn’t manage to keep the clean sheet unfortunately.”
