Leeds United fans packed out Elland Road on Saturday in what was an emotional night remembering two of their own. A 0-0 draw with Brentford was no thriller but more important was the coming together of thousands to pay tribute to Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight, who were murdered in Istanbul 26 years ago.
Chairman Paraag Marathe and managing director Robbie Evans laid wreaths at the memorial plaque outside Elland Road before a minute’s applause was held before kick-off. During the game, fans turned their back on the action, as they did 26 years ago and have done every year since.
Supporters travelled from far and wide to support Leeds and, more importantly, remember Chris and Kev during what is the last game at Elland Road before the anniversary of their deaths on April 5. Below is a selection of photos from the night.
