Beto delivered a striking masterclass, scoring twice and setting up a third, as a relentless Everton side emphatically boosted their European ambitions with a 3-0 demolition of Chelsea at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Toffees were in total control from back to front, overpowering Liam Rosenior’s faltering side and closing the gap on sixth-placed Chelsea to a mere two points.
How the Match Unfolded
Everton set the tempo right from the opening whistle. Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was fortunate to escape an early blunder when Beto relentlessly closed him down, and shortly after, Malo Gusto was forced into a desperate goal-line clearance to deny the magnificent James Garner.
The breakthrough arrived in the 33rd minute, and it was well deserved. Garner, playing with the supreme confidence of a midfielder fresh off his first England call-up, carved open the Chelsea defense with a delightfully weighted pass. Beto latched onto it and dispatched a clever, composed finish past the onrushing Sanchez.
Pickford Shuts the Door
While Everton’s attack sparkled, their defense was an immovable wall, throwing bodies on the line to block efforts from Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto. When Chelsea did manage to slip through, they were met by the imposing presence of Jordan Pickford.
Everton’s number one produced two breathtaking saves to deny Enzo Fernandez. First, he showed elite reflexes to tip a fierce volley over the crossbar just before half-time, and later dove at full stretch to push the Chelsea captain’s curling effort around the post.
Beto and Ndiaye Seal the Win
With Pickford keeping the visitors at bay, Everton ruthlessly turned the screw. In the 62nd minute, the tireless Idrissa Gueye fed Beto, who brilliantly shot on the turn. The ball fizzed through Sanchez’s legs to double the Toffees’ advantage.
Chelsea substitute Estevao did manage to rattle the crossbar directly from a corner, but Everton quickly extinguished any faint hopes of a late comeback. With 76 minutes on the clock, Beto showcased his vision with a deft flick to Iliman Ndiaye, who capped off the comprehensive victory with a gorgeous bending strike into the top-right corner.
The commanding win leaves Everton sitting solidly in eighth, surging toward the European places and carrying all the momentum, while condemning the visitors to a fourth consecutive defeat.
