Nuno Espirito Santo could not confirm the date of Crysencio Summerville return to action at West Ham United after their 2-0 Premier League defeat away to Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Hammers were without Summerville for a second successive top-flight game in the Midlands.
And while West Ham United managed to take a point off Manchester City in the absence of their talismanic forward, the visitors looked like a side crying out for Crysencio Summerville’s speed and unpredictability during a drab loss at Villa Park.
A very underwhelming Villa Park defeat! 🙄
Describe THAT performance in one word…
Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United runs with the ball under pressure from Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa during the Premier League match between Aston Villa and West Ham United at Villa Park on March 22, 2026 in Birmingham, England.
Jarrod Bowen and Taty Castellanos struggled, while Pablo Felipe has now failed to score in seven Premier League matches since arriving from Gil Vicente.
Crysencio Summerville is ‘improving’ at West Ham United
“We are assessing day by day,” Nuno told Sky Sports when asked about Summerville at full-time. “He is improving, but it is too soon to tell the exact date he will return.

“Hopefully he returns and gives us a hand.”
‘Improving’ is, at least, a positive sign.
According to De Telegraaf, Dutch boss Ronald Koeman considered calling up Summerville for the international break before deciding against taking a risk at such a crucial stage of the season.
The Hammers will be targeting the April 5th FA Cup quarter-final with Leeds – the winger’s former employers – as a potential return date.
