Carrick must axe Man Utd "magician" who's now in danger of becoming their new Garnacho - opinion

Manchester United have put six goals past Bournemouth in the Premier League this season. They've also conceded six, drawing 4-4 at Old Trafford and 2-2 on the south coast on Friday evening.

Michael Carrick and his men cut furious figures as they left the Vitality Stadium without three points, with questionable officiating a huge factor in failing to consolidate their position in third place.

There's a strong case to be made that strengthening the attacking flanks should be the first port of call for the Red Devils, even as Casemiro approaches the end of his time in the centre of the park.

Gains have been made since January, but there's a lot for INEOS to sort out.

Where Man Utd need to improve after Bournemouth

It's remarkable to think that this is the same team who looked so beleaguered and beaten under Ruben Amorim's management. But Manchester United are bouncing back, and they look a cut above the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool at this stage.

While Carrick has settled the United frontline, it's clear that INEOS are going to need to invest this summer, especially as the club step back into European competition, and that need has been accentuated by Bryan Mbeumo's patchy form, one goal in his past eight.

Matheus Cunha was breathtaking on the south coast, but not everyone hit the right notes against Andoni Iraola's side.

United took 14 shots but only hit the target three times, amassing an xG total of 1.77. Bruno Fernandes far and away the best playmaker in the Premier League, but his creativity needs to meet something sharper in the final third.

Last summer, Jason Wilcox and co got rid of the likes of Alejandro Garnacho in a bid to reshape Man United's frontline, but still, something has been left to be desired.

More change could be afoot, with the new Garnacho potentially at risk after his recent showing against Bournemouth.

Man Utd could sell the new Garnacho

Amad Diallo has enjoyed some big moments in a Manchester United shirt, but his record in front of goal has left a lot to be desired this season.

He's flashy and entertaining, hailed as a "magician" of a player by sports writer Veronica Commey, but maybe the Ivorian prospect is emerging as United's new version of Garnacho, lacking end product.

Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho reacts

The 23-year-old is yet to break his duck under Carrick's wing, and while Mbeumo is the designated centre-forward at this moment, Benjamin Sesko reduced to a super-sub role, which is bound to change at some point, and it could cut Amad adrift?

Amad is a popular and hard-working member of the Man United squad, having accepted a number of tactical roles over the past few years. Leaving the Vitality, he will feel aggrieved that he was not awarded a penalty.

He created plenty of problems for the Cherries, showcasing his fleet footwork and trickery on the ball, but Amad will be frustrated not to have seen his name on the scoresheet after a first-half chance. Moreover, Diallo failed to create a single chance.

While his superiors would like to keep him at the Theatre of Dreams next season, there's no question that Man United need to strengthen out wide, and given that Cunha and Mbeumo aren't going anywhere any time soon, Amad may find that a suitable offer would be considered.

With only four direct goal involvements this season, Amad isn't doing enough to earn his keep, and given that United need to be ruthless as they claw their way back to the top, he's certainly not indispensable on the attacking right wing.
