Dominic Calvert-Lewin again failed to score on Saturday as Leeds United played out a drab 0-0 draw against Brentford at Elland Road in the Premier League.
The point proved to be valuable as West Ham’s defeat at Aston Villa allowed Leeds to open up a four-point gap with the relegation zone, with seven games left in the season.

However, their lack of goals is becoming a real concern, with Leeds failing to score in the Premier League for over a month and going 419 minutes without finding the net.
Calvert-Lewin has made the England squad for the friendlies later this month, but he has not scored since early February, and there are serious concerns about his form.
Alan Shearer plays down Dominic Calvert-Lewin returning to the England squad
Calvert-Lewin has scored 10 Premier League goals this season. However, the 28-year-old’s current form is worrying as he prepares to play for England for the first time in more than five years.
Alan Shearer believes England boss wants to take a look at Calvert-Lewin once before he announces his 26-man World Cup squad ahead of the end of the season.
However, the former England captain pointed towards the Leeds striker’s form and conceded he would be shocked if he went to the World Cup this summer.
Shearer said on the Rest Is Football podcast: “I also look at the centre forwards, and I think Welbeck, who’s 35, who’s the top English scorer in the Premier League this season, I also think Ollie Watkins got a goal today.
“I think maybe he [Tuchel] is looking and thinking, okay, I know what you guys can do, particularly Watkins, I’ll have a look at Calvert-Lewin and Solanke.
“I’d be amazed if either of those two were to go instead of Watkins [to the World Cup].
“Calver-Lewin’s got two in his last 12, I’d be surprised if those two were picked ahead of Ollie Watkins in a squad of 26.”
Leeds need more goals
Dominic Calvert-Lewin may not have been in the England squad if his recent form had been taken into account.
He has 10 Premier League goals this season, yet his last came in the win over Nottingham Forest in early February. Since then, he’s missed several clear chances and even put a penalty wide against Crystal Palace.
Nmecha is still behind him in the pecking order, but he hasn’t offered much more, with his last league goal coming in the 3-3 draw at Chelsea.

Leeds need both forwards to hit form quickly, and there’s a strong argument for Farke to play them together up front to maximise their impact in the final seven games.
They’ve been fairly solid at the back, and grinding out a point against Brentford despite a below-par performance could still prove important.
But unless the goals return soon, Leeds could find themselves slipping into the bottom three after the international break.
