'Incredible' ex-Man Utd academy star scores wonder trivela goal in his first start

Maxi Oyedele made the decision to leave Manchester United in pursuit of first-team football and he lit up Ligue 1 this weekend with a wonder goal.

Maxi Oyedele hails from Salford and spent his childhood working his way up the Manchester United academy ranks between 2012 and 2022.

However, Oyedele was sold to Legia Warsaw in 2024, and last summer he made a £5.2m move to Strasbourg.

Since leaving United, Oyedele has been praised as an “incredible” talent, and he is now finding his feet in France.

Maxi Oyedele scores wonder goal for Strasbourg

Oyedele has been battling with injuries this season, so he had to wait until Sunday to get his first start for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 this season.

Strasbourg beat Nantes 3-2 in Ligue 1 this weekend with a last-minute winner, and Oyedele contributed by scoring his side’s first goal of the match.

Ligue 1 on X shared a clip of Oyedele’s goal, with the 21-year-old picking up possession outside of the box, beating a player with a flick and then scoring with the outside of his foot.

It was Oyedele’s first goal for Strasbourg since joining them in the summer, and he may be waiting a while to score a better goal than that.

Oyedele is currently playing under Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil, and he can hope to keep his spot in the starting line-up after such an impressive display.

Maxi Oyedele is living up to Darren Fletcher prediction

During his time at Carrington, Oyedele was one of the brightest prospects at the club, but the midfielder never got an opportunity to break into the first team.

However, current Under-18s coach Darren Fletcher predicted Oyedele would become a “top player” and it seems that is now coming true.

On top of that, Bruno Fernandes was ‘shocked’ Oyedele was sold after training with him at United.

United have had many transfer regrets over the past decade, and Ineos will hope that selling Oyedele for such a small fee will not come back to haunt them.
