And there is recognition for the club’s latest England squad member.
Diego Gomez finished as top scorer in this season’s Carabao Cup with five goals.
And Tommy Watson led the assists chart with three.
Both did the damage during 6-0 wins at Oxford and Barnsley in the opening rounds.
Gomez scored four of his five at Oakwell.
He also netted from close range in the win at Oxford.
Events in the final between Manchester City and Arsenal ensured he remained out in front.
His fellow South American talent Alejandro Garnacho scored four in the competition this season for semi-finalists Chelsea.
Manchester City duo Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush were unable to add to their three-goal tallies as the Gunners were defeated at Wembley.
Speaking to The Argus after his haul at Oakwell, Gomez said: “It’s the first time I’ve got four. I’m very happy and very grateful to my team-mates who helped me score goals.
“It’s even the first time I’ve scored three.
“It was a day I’ve dreamed of and I have to enjoy it with my girlfriend and my team-mates as well.
“She was watching the game at home but she is always supporting me. I am very thankful to her because she is the only one who is with me here in England and I am very happy about that.”
The Paraguayan’s ‘Golden Boot’ style achievement was quickly picked up on in his homeland, where it has perhaps been given more importance than it will be with Albion fans.
Gomez packs a powerful shot and two of his goals at Barnsley were stunners.
He also has a habit of conceding soft or needless free-kicks, sometimes in dangerous areas.
And that us why he topped another table.
The Carabao Cup stats for this season show he committed more fouls per 90 minutes than any other player with 4.30, just ahead of Cardiff City striker Yousef Salech.
Watson’s three assists all came at Barnsley and were helped by superb finishes from Gomez and Harry Howell.
The first of the three probably assisted the scorer – Gomez for his first that night – the most.
Gomez led the competition in terms of goals plus assists, also on five, and Watson was joint second on four with Garnacho and Cherki.
Watson, now at Millwall on loan, curled home a fine finish during the goal rush at Oxford.
Two more stats from the Carabao Cup this season, albeit over a small sample size, might please Fabian Hurzeler.
Carlos Baleba led the way for blocks per game on 2.20 and Watson was top in terms of possession won in the final third per 90 minutes, on 3.30.
Albion’s 6-0 wins were not totally reflective of the run of play, with both home sides having their chances.
That is reflected in the standings for both saves per 90 minutes, of which Jason Steele finished top with 4.30, and goals prevented, on 1.70. That is England form.
