Sesko and Mbeumo withdraw from international duty but bigger boost to Man Utd is their teammate going

Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo have given Man Utd a big boost by withdrawing from international duty, but a bigger boost is their teammate joining up with his national side.

Michael Carrick will face a nervous wait during the international break as he prepares to face Leeds after a break of 24 days.

With seven games left to play in the season, Man Utd can’t afford injuries to key players, so Benjamin Sesko’s withdrawal from Slovenia duty and Bryan Mbeumo’s not going to Cameroon is a huge boost.

However, the bigger boost is their teammate linking up with his national team, as he was set for a tricky period otherwise.

Man Utd updates on Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Noussair Mazraoui

Sesko staying back at Carrington to work with Carrick is a boost for United, and an equally important development is Bryan Mbeumo doing the same.

Mbeumo is not in the same developmental boat as Sesko, but the challenge for him was even more intense.

Mbeumo was set to travel more than 21,000 miles on this international break with fixtures in Sydney and Melbourne.

He would have done all that despite Cameroon not even qualifying for the World Cup, so there’s nothing tangible to work towards either.

He was subbed off as a precaution in his last game before the break, so the sensible decision has been taken to pull out from the squad.

Man Utd have confirmed on their official website that, along with Sesko and Mbeumo, there’s an update on Noussair Mazraoui as well.

The Moroccan has recovered from an illness and will link up with his national team as they build up preparation for the World Cup.

While Carrick will be grateful to have Sesko and Mbeumo ready to go for the Leeds game, he would have wanted Mazraoui to link up with the Moroccan squad.

Mazraoui playing for Morocco is a huge boost for Man Utd

Sesko is a model professional who will train hard at Carrington, while Mbeumo looked in genuine need of rest, but the same can’t be said for Mazraoui.

How do you predict Benjamin Sesko’s career at Manchester United will go?

It's early – but let's see your predictions!

His minutes have been completely eaten up by Diogo Dalot, so, if anything, he needed this international break to get his match fitness up.

Mazraoui is a key player for Morocco and will undoubtedly get some minutes in his legs, which is just what Carrick would have wanted after not being able to give him many at Old Trafford.

As United prepare to attack the season for the last seven games, a fit and firing Mazraoui with minutes in his legs is a huge boost to the team.

As dependable as Dalot has been, Mazraoui is a better player on the ball and is technically superior, which he has already shown at the club.

This break for Morocco comes at the perfect time for him to get some confidence back and return to United in a much better match rhythm.

Effectively, United have seen the ideal scenario unfold for all three stars. Two who needed to stay at Carrington are doing so, and the one who needed to go to get some minutes is going.
