Chelsea even admit one Everton player had a simply 'world-class' moment in the 35th minute

Jordan Pickford bounced back from his error against Arsenal with a superb performance against Chelsea that even drew a compliment from the Blues.

Everton beat Chelsea 3-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday evening, with supporters blown away by the level of performance.

What a win at Hill Dickinson Stadium! 💥

David Moyes’ side were fantastic from start to finish, as the Toffees pressed, harried and showed a ruthlessness in front of goal.

The result has put Everton just three points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, who lost to Brighton.

There has been a lot of praise for goalscorers Beto and Iliman Ndiaye.

But it was yet another solid defensive performance from Everton, and Jordan Pickford came in clutch once again, with one of his saves even impressing Chelsea.

Pickford clearly went into the Chelsea game with fire in his belly.

His mistake for the first goal Arsenal scored in the game before was a rare occurrence, and the England number one would no doubt have been stewing on that.

Against Chelsea though, he atoned, and then some.

And arguably his best moment came in the 35th minute, when the ball dropped to Enzo Fernandez in the Everton six-yard box.

The Argentine volleyed the ball towards goal after Pickford had parried the corner, but was denied by some incredible reflexes by the Everton man.

The moment was referenced by Chelsea in their own report of the game, with the Blues saying: “The Blues would have responded immediately through Enzo Fernandez had it not been for a world-class stop by Jordan Pickford and the England No.1 kept his side in front early in the second period by denying the Argentinian once again.”

Should Jordan Pickford now be considered one of the world’s best goalkeepers? 🤔

Gary Lineker is adamant he should 👀

That save in the first-half also drew praise from pundit Wayne Rooney, who also felt it was ‘incredible’.

Pickford – who has now reached 100 clean sheets for Everton – has been leaving fans stunned this season with some of the saves he’s made.

The 32-year-old made full stretch saves against Wolves and Aston Villa, and arguably his best came against Newcastle United when he tipped Sandro Tonali’s ferocious volley onto the crossbar.

That save put Pickford in the spotlight he really deserves, with that stop a very strong contender to win Save of the Season.

If Everton do end up making Europe at the end of the season, then Pickford will have played a huge part, just as he did in keeping the club in the Premier League in previous seasons.
